“Is cytisine – smoking rescuer of yours?” and other questions

March 22, 2011

cytisine smokingHey-ho, it’s time for new update! I’ve been thinking much about such way of smoking giving up like different drugs and liquids and tablets and so on. And the main thing here is cytisine. Smoking and quitting are subjects of research in Auckland Institute, New Zealand. Scientists want to test the efficiency of Tabex – drug made on the basis of chemical cytisine. Also researchers from the Academy of Finland’s Research Programme on Substance Use and Addictions are working on targeted drug for quitters. These are questions I want to discuss.

First – Tabex. Smoking makes people physically addicted to it. Tabex contains cytisine in safe doses which is nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist. It decreases nicotine hunger after you have taken the medicine. It is made in Bulgaria from Golden rain tree. So New Zealanders want to test if cytisine from their kowhai tree is effective as well. Scientists are in search for people who desire to participate in their research. They state that cytisine from kowhai will be a real natural product.

Then – targeted drug from Northern Europe. They call it CYP2A6 inhibitor. This drug is bound to help in smoking reduction, because it will act on CYP2A6 liver enzyme. This enzyme takes the main part in metabolizing nicotine when it reaches liver. Researchers say their drug is targeted which means it won’t have any side effects like other drugs of this kind and will act only on CYP2A6 liver enzyme.

Are you interested in “Tabex – smoking” or “kowhai cytisine – smoking”? Or would you like to try that targeted drug from Finland? As for me I think that medicine is better than anti-smoking therapy, but you should use it only if you can’t succeed going other ways (cold turkey, for example).
